HOW OLD DO YOU HAVE TO BE TO DANCE AT NEVERLAND?
HOW DO I ENROL
I’VE NEVER DANCED BEFORE, WHAT CLASS SHOULD I JOIN?
Whatever your ability is, we have a class for you! Our classes are based on age, so have a look at our timetable to find a class for your age group. If you’re not sure about what style you want to enrol in please visit us at the office and have a chat with us! You can also trial a couple of classes to find something that’s just right!
CAN I JOIN HALFWAY THROUGH THE TERM?
Yes! In most cases you are welcome to join a class at any point of the term, in fact if you are wanting to enrol during the term we encourage you to do so rather than waiting for the next term to start. Our teachers will help you get up to speed with the work so you’ll fit right in!
WHAT IF I CHANGE MY MIND?
We offer a 3-week period from your first class of the term to make changes to your enrolment. If the class isn’t quite the right fit, let us know! We’ll help you find a genre, teacher, or time that suits you perfectly and keeps you excited about dancing. Please note that changes made after this 3-week period are not eligible for refunds.
DO I NEED A UNIFORM?
Uniforms are required for all classes, except for Adult and Advanced Open classes. That said, we do expect all dancers to dress in a slick, genre-appropriate way. You can grab your uniform from the office. Check out our UNIFORM page for more details!
DO YOU OFFER TRIALS?
DO I NEED TO RE-ENROL AT THE BEGINNING OF EACH TERM?
No, you’ll be automatically re-enrolled for the next term throughout the year. Simply pay the term fees, and you’re all set to continue in your classes! However, re-enrolment is required for each new year, as our timetables change, and your dancer is likely to move up to a new class.
WHAT IF I’M NOT PLANNING ON COMING BACK NEXT TERM?
We’ll be sad to see you go, but if you’re no longer able to attend your class, please let us know so we can process your un-enrolment. Your enrolment will remain active, and you’ll continue to be charged for classes until this is completed.
HOW DO I PAY MY FEES AND WHEN ARE THEY DUE?
WHAT HAPPENS IF I MISS A CLASS?
Unfortunately, we don’t offer make-up classes or refunds for missed classes, except in cases of sickness/injury where a medical certificate must be provided.
WHAT HAPPENS IF A CLASS IS CANCELLED?
In the rare event that a class is cancelled, we will always arrange a make-up class, usually during the school holidays. If a make-up class cannot be scheduled, we will credit your account for the value of the cancelled class.
WHAT IF THE CLASS I WANT TO ENROL IN IS FULL?
We will always try our best to find a class for you, however if the class you want is full, you can be added to the waitlist! This means that if a spot opens up you will be the first to know about it!
DO YOU DO EXAMS? WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW IF I WANT TO DO EXAMS?
Yes, we offer exams for Jazz (GDQ) and Ballet (RAD). These exams provide a great mid-year goal and a sense of achievement for students. To be eligible, dancers must attend the required classes for exams (1 to 3 per week). The final decision to enter an exam is made by the teachers.
If you’re interested, please speak to us at the office or your teacher for more details on the exam process and preparation requirements.
HOW DO I JOIN A CREW OR A TROUPE?
If you’re looking to take your dancing to the next level, Neverland Extend and Crews are the perfect opportunity! We hold auditions for crews and troupes at the end of each year, with occasional auditions throughout the year. Be sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram to stay updated! For more information, chat with our office staff or your teacher—we’re here to support your growth as a dancer and will offer honest advice on what’s needed to help you succeed.
WHEN IS THE END OF YEAR SHOW?
Our end-of-year show typically takes place during the first weekend of December, marking an exciting time of year! Classes begin preparing their show dances from Term 3.
Students will find out which show they’ll be performing in around the middle of Term 3, when the Cast Lists are released.
WHAT IS INVOLVED IN THE SHOW PROCESS? ARE THERE EXTRA REHEARSALS?
During Terms 3 and 4, you’ll learn your show dances in your regular class times. In Term 4, we have two weeks dedicated to show preparation:
- Studio Rehearsals: All classes come together to run through their dances as they would in the show, in full costume!
- Theatre Rehearsals: Held at the Bruce Mason Centre in Takapuna, these rehearsals give each class the opportunity to practice on stage before show weekend.
A detailed schedule will be sent out closer to the date.
